Dyer Yunoki Sataro
Born in Tokyo in 1922. Studied art history at the University of Tokyo but was interrupted by the war. While working at the Ohara Museum of Art, he met the "Minzoku" of Soetsu Yanagi and advanced toward the way of dyeing under the tutelage of the dyer Takezawa Shosuke.
Since then, he has been active as a leading figure in mold dyeing. He held solo exhibitions in Paris from 2008 to 2010 and received high acclaim. In 2014, more than 70 of his works were collected by the French National Museum of Asian Arts - Guimet.
