Color variations of the Nanten Pattern Case
Nanten (Nandina) is a plant loved since ancient times as a "ward off evil and misfortune" symbol.
We have modernly designed a good motif from its auspicious origin into a contemporary lifestyle style.
The colors are offered in a warm red series,

and a gentle blue series in 2 colors.

While the colors are harmonious, each has its own personality, making it perfect as a colorful item to brighten up your desk.
※ Because the boxes are made by cutting large sheets of paper, there are individual differences in the pattern placement. Please understand this.
The fusion of refined design and craftsmanship

This paper-covered box case is a special elegant item handcrafted one by one by Kyoto Washi paper artisans.
The exterior uses hand-dyed Washi paper, while the interior uses a different color, creating a colorful impression the moment it is opened.
We aimed for a design that makes using it enjoyable.
A design combining storage power and functional beauty

The paper-covered box case is sized just right to fit stationery such as pens, rulers, cutters, and more.

Because it is a solidly constructed paper-covered box, it protects your stationery and can be used lovingly for a long time.

Besides stationery, it is also charmingly versatile for accessories, cosmetics, sewing kits, and gadget cases.
You can also use it as a wrapping box for sweets, miscellaneous goods, or small gifts.
The interior color is accented

The beauty when opened is also carefully crafted, with original Washi paper used on the interior bottom surface. The color scheme balanced with the exterior pattern gives a refined impression.

The smooth opening and closing, crafted by delicate handiwork, allow you to feel comfort every time you use it.
Elegant harmony created by the interior design

The interior bottom uses simple, colorless paper instead of dyed Washi paper.
While drawing out the beauty of the paper, it creates a calm atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy different expressions between the exterior and interior.
The exquisite balance with the exterior produces a more refined impression.
The charm of hand-dyed paper stands out in the detail

The hand-dyed Washi paper used in this Nagi case is an original of Fuwa Market. It is handcrafted one by one by friendly Washi paper artisans at a specialized workshop in Kyoto.

Thanks to traditional techniques, it has a deep color and a unique blend that is truly charming. When you look closely at the paper, you can feel the delicate layering of colors unique to hand-dyed paper.
Subtle gradations and nuances created by handcrafting bring out a unique beauty found nowhere else.

Each piece is carefully dyed by hand, creating a warmth and depth that cannot be expressed by a simple print.
Every time you use it, you can feel the meaning of Japanese beautiful craftsmanship and traditional patterns.

Produced by the artisans’ handiwork, please be sure to experience the charm of this harmonious and warm design.

[Nanten Pattern]

Nanten for Exorcism
Nanten is a plant that has been valued as a medicinal herb to suppress evil spirits since ancient times, passed down from China during the Heian period.
From the end of autumn to the beginning of winter, it bears many bright red berries, and because the reading of "nanten" can mean "to turn difficulties into happiness," it has been cherished as a talisman for this wish.
Also, placing it in the entrance is believed to prevent bad energy, which is another meaning of exorcism.
In the Edo period's Hyakka Jiten (Encyclopedia), it is written that "planting nanten prevents fires," and many households planted it on unlucky corners as a fire prevention measure to protect the safety of the home.
People have wished for vitality with its strong life force, good luck with its broad leaves, and financial fortune with its golden-colored leaves, hoping for various blessings through the image of the nanten.
