Yotsume dyed cloth | Name engraving | Minpaku Blue indigo | Vermilion Navy
It is a name engraving using traditional technique "katazome" dyed cloth.
Since all of them are handmade by craftsmen, each piece has its own personality even if it is the same pattern.
The pattern’s alignment may shake or the dyeing method may change,
and this "unevenness" brings out expressions and warmth that cannot be created digitally.
※ Because the way the pattern appears changes depending on the cutting location, the position of the pattern cannot be selected. Please kindly understand this in advance. ※
The name engraving often becomes a topic of conversation
When it comes to name engraving, the mainstream is usually simple designs without a background made by laser processing.
However, this name engraving is impressive at first glance.
The moment you are praised with "It's a wonderful name engraving," you will surely be fascinated.
Easy to use
Since there are pockets on the left and right when opened, you can separate your own and the other person's name, or carry two different types of name engravings, so the way you use it is free and flexible. Not only as name engraving, but also as card holders that gather point cards, etc., it is also active.
Putting thoughts into each one
Making name engraving is done with "Yotsume dyeing cloth technique."
In our dyeing workshop, we use the Japanese traditional techniques "katazome" and "tsutsuzome" to create patterns on the cloth, and produce products such as name engraving using that as the base material.
<Katazome>
It starts with making stencil paper from an original design. Place the stencil paper on the cloth, and apply a paste made from rice flour or soybeans. The parts where the paste is applied do not get dyed, and become the white parts of the pattern.
<Tsutsuzome>
The paste is applied with a free hand like drawing a raw cream. The parts where the paste is applied remain white, similar to katazome, but tsutsuzome’s big feature is that it can express freehand styles that cannot be done by hand drawing.
Regardless of which technique is used, the subsequent process is the same.
After the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush. If it is a single color, it finishes in one go, but when layering multiple colors, it dyes one color at a time as if painting a picture.
Finally, the paste is washed off with water, the pattern finally floats up vividly, and after drying, it is complete.
In this way, a long process is taken to complete one piece of cloth, changing its shape into name engraving.

The only pattern you can find here
All stencils of the "Yotsume dyeing cloth technique" are original. Therefore, this design can only be obtained here.
Circular, triangular, lines, dots like rice grains... Various shapes are combined into patterns, spreading wide as a small canvas called name engraving. Since the impression changes depending on how the cloth is cut, even the same pattern can enjoy expressions full of personality for each product.
