The dignified checkered pattern with its dignified lines is captivating.

It is said that Kabuki actor Danjuro Ichikawa VII invented it by breaking down the family crest "San Masu". It is also known as "Danjuro lattice.

 

Kamawanu tenugui are made using the "Chusen" dyeing technique, which has been used since the Meiji era. Therefore, the finished product is slightly different even with the same dye depending on the weather, temperature, humidity, and other factors of the day.
