Lattice, also called "plaid," is originally a type of stripe consisting of a combination of vertical and horizontal stripes. This pattern is stylishly called "Jyu-sevi-koushi" (seventeen plaid) with thick cross stripes and seven thin stripes.
Careful dyeing using the traditional Japanese technique of "shizome
The fine patterns and the beauty of the joints are expressed by the handmade work of craftsmen in chusen (pouring) dyeing. The balance between the patterns and the shades of color are woven together to create a piece that conveys the chic of the Edo period to the present day.
