よつめ染布舎
【Gamaguchi coin purse】Muryoka Yamabuki よつめ染布舎
This clasp purse uses fabric finished with the katazome technique.
Because the stencil making and dyeing are done entirely by hand, each piece has its own personality even with the same pattern.
Irregular outlines or uneven motifs — those handwork “variations” create a somehow charming, warm expression. This is an item where you can feel the breath of a human hand that digital methods cannot reproduce.
*Because the pattern placement varies depending on the cutting location, you cannot choose the exact pattern position. Thank you for your understanding.
Comfort that fits your everyday life
Sized to fit neatly in both hands, it doesn’t take up much space in your bag.
It’s also just the right size to hold small items like lip balm and makeup tools.
Because it’s a clasp purse, it opens wide and operates smoothly. You can snap it open with one hand and quickly take out or put away what you need, making it very convenient.

A sense of quality you feel each time you pick it up
The fittings are made of brass, giving a nostalgic yet refined atmosphere.

The interior is finished with heavy linen, resulting in a reassuring, carefully made piece.
The contrast with the subdued tones of the outer fabric is exquisite, adding a little thrill every time you open it.
Made with care, one by one

The clasp purses are made by "yotsume染布舎".
At this dyeing studio, they apply patterns to fabric using Japanese traditional techniques such as katazome and tsutsugaki, and from those materials they create products like clasp purses.
The outer fabric of the clasp purse uses katazome.
Katazome starts by creating an original stencil. The stencil is placed on the fabric, and a paste made by mixing mochi rice or rice bran is applied. The areas where the paste is placed do not take dye, becoming the white parts of the pattern.
Once the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush. For a single color, this can be done in one go, but for multi-colored designs, each color is applied one by one as if painting a picture.
Finally, when the paste is washed away with water, the pattern sharply appears, and after drying the piece is complete.
In this way, after a long process a single piece of fabric is completed and then transformed into a clasp purse.
Patterns you can only find here
The pattern used on the clasp purse, called "Muryoka," is actually an imaginary flower conceived by Toyokazu Ono of yotsume染布舎. Because it is a floral motif born from the creator’s imagination and does not exist in reality, it is a special design you can only get here.
The color is a vivid yamabuki yellow. This bright yellow, reminiscent of spring light, will brighten the mood of the person who carries it.
