About us
Fuwa Market is a small lifestyle shop that started in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture in 2025.
Located close to Himeji Castle, a world heritage site, it was born out of a desire to convey Japanese beauty and design that is suitable for modern living both domestically and internationally.
Representative: Hideki Nishida
How Fuwa Market was born
The impetus was that the representative, Nishida, wanted to introduce Japanese sweets and crafts to overseas countries.
However, when we were finding it difficult to differentiate ourselves from other craft sites due to food export regulations, we received a great hint from a product we encountered in Taiwan.
It was a product with a sophisticated design, a modern arrangement of traditional patterns.
Japan has many cute, fashionable, and tasteful things.
However, the "Japanese design" introduced overseas tends to be biased towards easy-to-understand motifs such as kabuki, ninjas, old Japanese patterns, kanji, and anime characters.
Of course, these are also part of Japan's charm.
However, we Japanese do not have many opportunities to use such motifs in our daily lives.
In fact, Japan has a quieter, more sophisticated design and beauty.
However, they are still relatively unknown in the world.
While it has a Japanese tradition, it is pop and cute and fits modern life.
I want to deliver more products with such designs to the world.
Fuwa Market was born from this idea.
Commitment to product selection
At Fuwa Market, we select products from the following perspectives.
It has a Japanese feel,
It must have a cute design.
Specifically, we value the following three criteria.
- Tradition:Locally rooted techniques and materials are used
- Design:A sophisticated style that suits modern life
- Social:Being able to empathize with the creator's thoughts and background
Rather than expensive traditional crafts, we would like to deliver products with Japanese designs that can be easily used in daily life.
Products created by small workshops and artisans across Japan reflect the climate and aesthetic sense of each region.
About the development of original products
We are also working on developing original textiles that are modern arrangements of traditional Japanese patterns.
Through trial and error together with external designers, we create designs that combine traditional techniques with modern sensibilities.
The dyeing is carefully done by hand by craftsmen in Kyoto one by one, and the finished products are made into cloth and paper products.
This original product ``Happiness Pattern Series'' was highly praised by experts at an exhibition held in Kyoto. Furthermore, it was selected as an especially excellent product in a project to convey the goodness of Japan to other countries. The uniqueness of the design, ideas, and high quality are highly evaluated.

Connections with the community and society
Fuwa Market has another important background.
Since our representative Nishida's son has a developmental disability, we also operate a welfare office that provides employment support for people with disabilities.
Work such as packaging original products and attaching tags is carried out in collaboration with welfare offices.
Fuwa Market wants to be a store that grows together with the local community and society through manufacturing.
