Yotsume dyeing cloth | Name stamp included, unlimited flowers, blue indigo

Price $900.00 TWD (tax included)

It is a name stamping using a traditional technique called "Katazome" dyeing on cloth.

Since everything is handmade by craftsmen, individual characteristics appear point by point even on the same cloth.
The pattern edges may be blurred, or the dyeing method may vary.
This "unevenness" brings out expressions and warmth that cannot be created digitally.

Putting thought into each one

Making name stamping is done with "Yotsume dyed cloth edge".
In our dyeing workshop, traditional Japanese techniques such as "Katazome" and "Tsubokaki" are used to apply patterns on cloth, and products such as name stamping are created using the cloth as raw material.

<Katazome>
It starts by making a stencil from an original drawing.
The stencil is placed on the cloth, and a paste made of rice flour or starch is applied.
The parts where the paste is applied are not dyed and become the white parts of the pattern.

<Tsubokaki>
Paste is placed with a freehand brush like drawing.
The parts where the paste is applied remain white, similar to Katazome,
but the big feature of Tsubokaki is that it allows free expression unlike hand painting.

Regardless of which technique is used, the subsequent process is the same.
After the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush.
If it is a single color, it finishes at once, but when layering multiple colors, it dyes one color at a time as if painting a picture.

Finally, when the paste is washed off with water, the pattern finally floats clearly and it is complete after drying.

In this way, after a long process, one cloth is completed and the shape changes toward name stamping.
