Continuous craft of craftsmen from the Meiji era: "Chusen" dyeing technique

Kamafun's handwoven fabric has been made using Japan's unique dyeing technique called "chusen" since the Meiji era. By placing a resist paste and dyeing all at once, it is characterized by being reversible and usable without a lining.

Due to the production process centered on handwork, subtle “play” occurs in the colors and patterns, and the harmony changes the more it is used. Each piece grows into a unique existence that has a mutual relationship like a pair of rivals, never identical.

[About Care]

・Both ends of the handwoven fabric are left uncut. To prevent fraying at the start of use, please cut the horizontal threads with scissors or similar. The more you wash it (2 to 3 times), the less it will fray.

[About Washing]

・When washing, hand wash gently with cold water, lightly stretch the fabric, avoid direct sunlight, and dry it.
・Please avoid leaving it soaked or wet for a long time.
・At first use, excess dye will come off, but it will settle after washing 2 to 3 times.
・Using bleach may cause rapid fading.
・Using bleach-containing detergents or strong alkaline detergents may damage the fabric.
・When using a bath, the handwoven fabric will soften, but depending on the dye, stains may appear and cause color fading.

[Precautions]

・Occasionally, unique stains may occur on the handwoven fabric. Since these stains are often caused by the dye, please wash it several times while gradually reducing the stains. Please use it with confidence.
・Color changes may vary depending on the environment where it is viewed.
