Elegant and Vibrant with a Good Pattern of String-Wound Gourd

“Ajiro” refers to a woven bamboo or wooden basket used for catching fish. It is a traditional pattern passed down from ancient times as a tool for carrying shellfish, fishing gear, and small fish.

This handle design incorporates the “Hyoutan” (gourd) pattern, known as a string-wound object, within such a woven pattern.

The gourd pattern in auspicious designs, which carries meanings such as warding off evil, prosperity of descendants, and flourishing business, is also used for gifts, celebrations, New Year’s, and store openings.

It brings unobtrusive good fortune amidst the shadows and is a beautiful and practical piece.

Dyed Blend “Rienzome”

“Rienzome” is a dyed blend technique pioneered by the old master craftsman of the Meiji era, “Tidaya Shop.”

“Chusen” dyeing is a traditional Japanese method where the dye is poured onto the fabric, allowing it to be dyed brightly and evenly without a back side. The beauty of the subtle gradations and shades cannot be reproduced by machine dyeing, making it a unique technique.

The Rienzome handle is highly absorbent and quick-drying, making it perfect for everyday use. The more you wash it, the softer it becomes, and it fits comfortably on the skin, allowing you to cherish it for a long time.

The design draws from traditional patterns of Edo’s silk, broadly developing into modern patterns that match contemporary tastes. Balancing practicality and design, it is also ideal as a gift.
