Jagaimo Bag | Animals

A cute round-shaped bag called "Jagaimo," resembling a potato.
Because it has a rounded bottom, it can hold items firmly and is practical for easy putting in and taking out.

The fabric used for the bag is makumo's original raw fabric. The weaving is, of course, handmade, including the design and dyeing of the fabric, and the unique patterns and color schemes can only be found here.

The adorable expressions and playful appearances of the animals naturally make you want to look at them — a fun design. While it has a unique design, the colors are well-coordinated, so it can be used casually.

Gentle for the User

The Jagaimo bag is a large size with a mouth width of 40cm and a height of 30cm. Since it uses sturdy canvas fabric (woven), you can feel secure putting items in it firmly.

The opening has a fastener, which is a nice point as it firmly protects the inside.

The shoulder strap is wrapped with quilted fabric to ensure a comfortable feel.
Its length is adjustable, so you can use it as a tote bag or a shoulder bag.

Valuing a Playful Spirit

The inside of the bag is a vivid green color.
Every time you put items in or take them out, your heart is suddenly lifted — such a playful spirit is hidden inside the bag.

It also has an inner pocket, so you can neatly store small items.

Starting from the Fabric Design

The base is pure white canvas fabric.
Makumo's bags start from the design of the fabric.

Designer Fukuyama-san graduated from the dyeing department of a shaping school and, through experience in stencil art and other fields, established makumo. The patterns and colors born from her hands combine a pop yet nostalgic retro atmosphere, creating a fresh, unique personality.

Because It's Handmade, the Expression Differences

makumo Makumo Textile Hand-dyeing (Tenassen) Silk Screen Mr. Niiki
Shinki-san is the one who shapes Fukuyama-san's designs.

The technique used is called "hand-dyeing (tenassen)/silk screen." For each color, a stencil is made, and using a large squeegee, the dye is brushed onto the fabric while layering each color carefully.

The dyed fabric shows different expressions even with the same design, and digital prints cannot reproduce the subtle depth and warmth created by this technique.

After several processes, the finished fabric is shaped into a Jagaimo bag by weaving craftsmen.

Because everything is handmade, there are slight individual differences in size and pattern. Please enjoy the unique expressions of each piece.
You may see "color bleeding" or "smearing" especially on umbrellas due to the nature of the material and dyeing. If you enjoy the handmade feel, this will be a pleasure.
