Traditional patterns and artisan skills combined in a beautiful and practical premium memo pad

The “Pattern of Happiness” series is an original design born from the fusion of Japanese traditional patterns, which embody the meaning of wishing for happiness, and a textile designer.

One of the patterns, Nanten, is a plant cherished since ancient times as a “demon repellent” and “evil remover.”

We designed modern motifs dyed with contemporary lifestyle in mind, inspired by the good fortune of the Nanten plant.

Meticulous artisan skills: Each piece is carefully handcrafted at a specialized Kyoto box workshop.
Modern traditional patterns: Enjoy choosing from 6 types of patterns in 2 colors.
Highly practical: Ideal for jotting down quick notes, study, or work.
Also perfect as a premium gift: The “Pattern of Happiness” conveys special thoughts.

Bringing Japanese beauty into everyday life

The memo pad size is approximately 10cm square (memo paper is 9cm square). Just one on your desk adds a weighty yet easy-to-use size feel.

Use it freely and flexibly as a shopping list, idea jotter, memo pad, To-Do list, and more.

Perfect for the office or your home desk, for quick messages with family or partners, study, work, or business scenes. A convenient premium memo pad that allows you to quickly jot down your daily “just a little note.”

The hand-dyed Japanese paper’s beauty makes writing memos a little more special and meaningful moment.

Accent of color on the inside

As beautiful when opened as it is closed, the front and back paper uses simple, unpatterned paper.

While drawing out the beauty of the fabric, it also creates a falling atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy different expressions on the front and back.

The delicate handwork enables smooth opening and closing, letting you feel comfort each time you use it.

The charm of hand-dyed artisan skills stands out

The hand-dyed Japanese paper used in this memo pad is carefully handcrafted one by one by a skilled artisan specializing in friend’s Japanese paper dyeing at a workshop in Kyoto.

The deep colors and unique blending created by traditional techniques are truly captivating.

Looking closely at the fabric, you can feel the depth of the subtle color layering unique to hand-dyeing Japanese paper.

The subtle gradations and shading create a unique blend only possible with hand craftsmanship, expressing unparalleled beauty.

Each edition is carefully dyed one by one, giving rise to a warmth and depth of expression that cannot be achieved by simple printing alone.

The hand-dyed Japanese paper with a glossy finish is carefully handcrafted one by one by Kyoto box artisans. The subtle variations in each piece express a special feeling unique to you.

We invite you to experience the charm and warmth created by the artisan’s handwork and unique blending.

Wishes and prayers embedded in the Nanten pattern

Nanten, the demon repellent

Nanten is a plant passed down from China during the Heian period, valued as a medicinal herb that suppresses misfortune.

From late autumn to early winter, it bears many bright red fruits, and from the reading of “difficult to pass,” it is cherished as a good luck charm wishing to “turn hardships into blessings.”

It is also believed to have the power to repel bad spirits when placed near shrines.

In the Edo period’s Encyclopedia of a Hundred Plants, it is written that “planting Nanten prevents fires,” and many families planted it in inconvenient corners as a “fire repellent” to protect their homes.

The colors include a warm red series,

and a gentle blue series in two colors. The subtle blending adds personality and gently enhances your desk.

※ Because these are made by cutting large sheets, there are individual differences in the placement of the fabric. Please understand this in advance.
