Dyed tenugui "Jars and baskets"

Design: Ishikita Yumi/Dyeing: Hamamatsu's Journey Dyeing Workshop

This dyed tenugui is based on a jar or basket, and gives a calm, nostalgic feel to its scenery.

Based on the designs by dyer Ishikita Yumi, Hamamatsu's meticulous dyeing workshop carefully dyes each piece.

The beautiful bleeding that is unique to piping dyeing and the dyeing that is not in front of each other add a gentle touch to your everyday life.

It is also recommended as an accent for your interior or as a gift.

Since all dyeing is done by hand, there will be individual differences in the degree of dye bleeding and how it is colored.

There may be some uneven color or undyed parts, but we would appreciate your patience as it is unique to hand-dyed.

[Glue] Left

This is a process where you carefully use a pattern to carefully perform dye-resistant glue on the parts of the pattern you wish to leave behind.

This glue prevents the dye from soaking into the fabric, and the pattern is clearly raised.

[Dyeing (Dyeing)] Right

This is the process of using a tool called a "ket" to pour dye on top.

The dye poured in will soak into the underside of the fabric, resulting in a beautiful finish with no front or back.

The bleeding and shaking that can only be achieved by hand also has the taste of piping.

[Wash] Left

This is a process in which the dyed cloth is carefully washed in an aquarium to remove any hassle-free dyes and pastes.

This washing calms the color and creates a soft texture.

[Dry] Right

After washing, hang the cloth high and let it dry with natural breeze and light.

The sight of the swaying in the wind is one of the beautiful scenery that can only be found in shio.
